Web Designer Creates A Buzz With Christmas Tree Video

A web designer took a video of a Christmas tree lighting up like the growth of branches off of the trunk. It went from top down, center out, all the way to the bottom of the tree. The lights were white or clear, making the whole thing look like an animation of the growth of a tree, roots or something similar. Once the lights are lit all the way to the bottom of the trunk of the pine tree, they start to blink or flicker as whole branches. This person wanted to know what others in the animation community thought about this lit Christmas tree.

One person replied that it looked like a Bob Ross painting. Bob Ross was a television show host who painted and explained what he was doing as he did it. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. His calm and soothing voice made his show relaxing to watch.

Another person wrote back and said that looked like lightning finding its way to the Earth in slow motion. Many others remarked that they liked the effect in slow motion as the tree became illuminated from the top down more than they liked the flashing of the branches once the entire tree was lit.

Several people wondered how long it took to set the whole thing up. Not only did they wonder about how long it took to actually string the lights and what it entailed to get the lights all the way to the top of the tree and to the end of each branch, but they were also curious about what type of computer or controller was handling the activation of each string of lights. One person figured that a Pentium 4 box connected to Windows XP could handle this type of an animation.

A few other people remarked about wanting to know where this tree is located so they could see it for themselves. Several commentators wrote back that it is located on a street in Spokane.
