Wakamai Fondue Leaves Developers Questioning Font Layout Distortion

Wakamai Fondue is the perfect tool to let users upload any font they want, by simply dropping a font type onto the circle shown on the official page. In other words, any fonts saved on your desktop can be converted into a CSS compatible file for web design. What this does is give users information about a font's main features, including the CSS code required for displaying them on a website in progress. Rather than releasing your font into the public, it will instead be stored in your browser. However, this won't run on a mobile device, it must be on a computer.

Wakamai Fondue was created by Roel Nieskens in Fontkit and Vue.js. Currently in Version 0.9 beta, this tool is still in need of some tweaking. According to the people who are testing Wakamai, they aren't too sure of what it actually does to fonts since no demos have been posted by the project's contributors yet. Fortunately, someone has released a detailed screenshot of every feature using Montserrat Regular as an example. This "TrueType" font is described as having 707 characters and 24 layout features. The user is provided with information on the Filename, Copyright License, Languages, Size, Format, Authorship, and Version.

The Language support area lists all the languages that can be styled into Montserrat Regular. In addition, it lists the letters of the alphabet and a sample paragraph for your reference. The Required Layout Features explain which features or writing modes are applicable to a specific font. It lists elements such as the Glyph Composition or the Mark Positioning. Down below are the actual Layout Features which are optional but are turned off by default. They are accessible through a generated stylesheet. The stylistic alternates show various figures in both capital and lower case letters. And lastly, you can download the CSS stylesheet at the bottom of the page.
