User-Friendly Ways To Enhance Interactive Images

A person showed some images and wanted to know how they could make links within the images more obvious or intuitive. One person suggested putting the text at the top of the image and anchoring it to the bottom. Then the original poster should add an icon, such as a plus or arrow element in order to indicate an interaction for the user. A tooling line or other small design elements would also help indicate that this image is interactive.

Someone else suggested adding an arrow after the title using the CSS after element. A slightly transparent overlay with wording to view collection could also work. The person could also increase the scale of the element on hover with a box shadow element. A padding that is transparent in regular view and contrasting in hover may work well. In the mobile environment, the designer should try a card style format with some space between the collections.

A person suggested putting titles at the top with blue and underlines. A different reviewer suggested seeing them titled with margins between them and one popping out when the user hovers over it. An individual suggested separating the menu and adding three sample images with text and other styling on top. Another suggested hover effects. One person said to add a white centered line at the bottom tat appears by growing from left to right.

Several people suggested hover effects that make that area bigger and dim the other images. When doing this, one person said to block off part of the menu with a solid or consistent background so that it is clearly separated from the image and links. Most people felt that a simple hovering effect would make the most sense.

One person had a suggestion about moving the navigation off of the cards. It should be broken into its own section where the images would be pulled away. This would make the navigation easier for a person to read. The site would be less confusing this way. The designer got a lot of useful suggestions on some options to try today.
