Similar Site Designs Create a Familiar Experience for Its Visitors

So many websites look alike because the designer want to give the user a familiar experience. Certain websites, such as e-commerce sites, have to make it easy for their visitors to find and purchase merchandise, but other types of websites leave designers free to think outside the box and develop an artsy or experimental design.
With experimental websites, designers don't use a template; their layouts are unique, but still intuitive so visitors can navigate the site. Asymmetrical layouts and particle backgrounds may appear experimental to visitors even though these are nothing new to website designers.
Menus are one way to experiment with something new in a must-have element. An example is a website which has framed pictures on a wall for the menu. Each picture is text and it's obviously the menu, but it's fun. Others use images as links to menu items, which can lead to confusion.
We frequently see custom illustration in experimental websites. Animated illustrations often set the site apart. Another tactic is to use unique typography and vary the size of words, even within the same paragraph.
Unusual color combinations can also show a web designer is willing to experiment. The colors should complement each other even if they are not commonly put together. A red and turquoise website is an ideal example of colors that look good if you use a muted red and a bright shade of turquoise.
The key to creating an experimental website that works for a client, or your own business, is to ensure it loads quickly and navigation is intuitive. It’s easier for well-known brands to experiment with unusual website designs because their visitors will probably already know the products offered by the company. A startup brand will have to explain what it is they do quickly before the site’s uniqueness distracts the visitor who never discovers the brand’s purpose before hitting the back button.  For more information click here https://www.reddit.com/r/web_design/comments/atjleq/what_are_your_favorite_experimental_or_artsy/.
