Quick Exit Buttons Are Protecting People Around the World

There are some instances in which a person who is trying to find information needs to be able to quickly navigate off of the site so that a person nearby does not notice what they were doing. While it is still possible to check the history of the computer or the IP address, sometimes a quick exit button that takes the internet user to a different and bland website is all that is needed. One case in which this type of an exit button is of particular importance is in the area of domestic violence.
If a person is trying to look up a shelter where victims of domestic violence can go or local resources for the victims of domestic violence, they probably do not want the perpetrator of the violence to know what they have been doing. Having a quick exit button that takes a person to the main Google search page or to a page with general information such as the weather forecast could enhance a person's safety. It is not uncommon for local domestic violence shelters to offer a quick exit button that a visitor can click on and be taken directly to Google, with the domestic violence shelter page's tab being replaced by the Google tab.
A few international domestic violence shelters and resource sites offer embedded portals with additional safety protections for the users. These portals do not write the site to the history. Instead, they write a site such as a social media page, search engine or random search engine entry to the history. It is suspicious when an internet user quickly closes windows or tabs. These quick exit buttons provide a helpful service to people who may be victims of violence or feel the threat of violence based on the type of information that they may be looking up.
Government sites in New Zealand have started to use these quick exit buttons. Local resource sites for LGBTQ youth are also starting to implement this type of a quick escape. The site has nothing to lose by adding this type of an exit button. For more information click here https://i.redd.it/o8i3niq72gw11.jpg.
