Only 37.5% of Browsers Are Compatible With This CSS Feature

In a CSS designers' discussion group, a member shared a link to a site with an article containing information about the new CSS aspect ratio property. The article shows the code and rendered examples of how the code works. The original poster thought it would be of use to people who are interested in learning more CSS coding skills.

The first person who took a look at the link said that it would only work for 37.5% of users based on the operating system and browsers that people use. This would make it a no-go for them because they need their site to be useful to a much larger proportion of the public.

Another person who reviewed the site and the code snippets said that there is a better way to do the same thing. The better method is with SASS. Doing it that way would make it accessible to everybody. A few people had questions about how the padding top hack works. A couple of people were able to answer those questions for the people.

A person offered their thoughts about this technique. Their perception of the aspect ratio is that they can't wait to use it in 10 years. Someone wanted to know if there was an auto fill option to make the process easier. One person pointed out which versions of which operating systems this actually works in and why.

A few people noted how far CSS has expanded in the past few years. They noted that it would be nice if the browsers would keep up with CSS developments. They added that they look forward to using this tip when it is more widely supported by browsers that are in common use. A few people thought it was cool.

Most of the people who took a look and liked it were frustrated that it would not work in the browsers they usually use. It is noted that this aspect ratio will not be compatible with IE 11. It is also not compatible with iOS or Android at this time, so most phone owners won't use it. For more information click here https://i.redd.it/bcmpv7algme61.jpg.
