Keep These Top Concerns in Mind When Designing a UX

The user experience, often called a UX, is a subjective issue that people tend to get emotional about. What one user likes could be the bane of another user's digital experiences. The UX has come up again, with different designers having strong opinions about what constitutes visual clutter. When it comes to looking at a website or a form for entering information, it helps to have enough white space around the important content or the images. The white space allows the eyes and brain to focus on what is the most important element on the page. Visual clutter distracts from the important content, and that clutter could cause the viewer to be overwhelmed, overstimulated and distracted.
When planning out the intended UX for a website, it is important to keep several things in mind. This is also the case if you are trying to teach others about best practices for UX. One of the important concerns about UX is making sure that the most important part of a page, whether that is an image, video or written content, is centrally displayed. Sticking it off to the side or up in a corner means that the user might miss that information.
Another important rule to follow for an ideal UX is to use smooth transitions. Not only is it jarring to the eyes to quickly move from one video or image right to another. Smooth transitions are easier on the eyes and the brain. The user can transition their line of thought more quickly when there is a good transition in place. A few other distractions to avoid on sites include too many animated elements, videos that automatically play and background music that starts up and cannot be shut off.
When teaching others how to implement a great UX, avoid mixing mistakes and best practices. Consider using several examples, such as "Problem 1" and "Best Practice 1." Another way to teach others would be to go through and talk about all of the different UX mistakes. You could follow up the discussion of the mistakes with a discussion of best practices.
